Core Values
We understand a core value to be a thought process operable in the congregation, sometimes but not always recognized, which shapes and forms the congregation's ministries, interpersonal relationships and sense of being a church doing the Lord's work. What follows are the core values that we believe actually animate this church.
Worship
Worship is of primary importance in the Montauk Community Church. We are a congregation who loves and responds to the traditional service, but is open to approaches that deepen our understanding of the Word. Music is an important part of our service.
Welcoming People
We strive to be friendly and warm to all new people and visitors. Our coffee hour is well known for its varied offerings of brunch type foods presented in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. The social glue after church is strong.
Community
We are aware of our importance as the English-speaking Protestant church in a small community at Land's End. We take seriously our mission to be a worshipful place for those who come here as well as to act as an important community center for other groups in the hamlet of Montauk.
Support
We are a caring and supportive congregation to all who are in need in our area.
Leadership
We are a strong small church because we are a congregation with strong lay leadership. Many of the leaders in our congregation have leadership roles in other organizations in town, which helps us to be connected more deeply to the rest of the community (see above).
Education
We value the education of all our members. We have a group of committed Sunday School leaders who reach out to the community, especially through our Children's Christmas pageant and our Vacation Bible Camp.
